Alice Springs School of the Air Tour - 30 Minutes

Step inside the Alice Springs School of the Air Visitor Centre on a 30 minute guided tour and discover one of Australia's most fascinating Outback stories. Learn how the world's first School of the Air has delivered lessons to students scattered across remote Australia for more than 75 years, earning its title as the world's largest classroom.

Your friendly guide leads you through a 10 minute film, a 10 minute history talk and a 10 minute studio presentation, sharing tales of innovation, resilience and everyday life in the bush. Browse the interactive displays and, during school hours, you may have the opportunity to observe a teacher conducting a live lesson in one of our five broadcasting studios, right in front of you! At times, our teachers and our students take well deserved breaks! During these times live lessons will be replaced with pre-recorded lessons. Easy to reach and suitable for all ages, this is a genuine slice of Outback life that brings the the world’s largest classroom vividly to life.

• Available Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm
• Available Sunday from 12pm to 3pm
• Available on public holidays from 1.30pm to 4.30pm

Duration

• This experience is 30 minutes in duration, though we recommend allowing at least 45 minutes for your full visit.
